The music for this month is: 'The Adagio from Spartacus and Phrigia by Khachaturian'

chosen by Harold.

Surfers

The Spartacus music will for me always be associated with the sea because of the BBC series "The Onedin line". I have taken umpteen photos of yachts in marinas and also captain Cook's replica tall ship but all of them have no feel of the sea or action about them. Instead of ships on the water I have photographed a party of surfers at Tynemouth and this is my entry entitled "surfers".

Grand fall

Although I can't remember seeing 'The Onedin Line' this music reminds me of the movement of water. Hence my picture of a splendid waterfall in Iceland taken last year.

Orchid Ouvertes

'Orchid Ouvertes' (these delicate flowers convey the quality of a gentle ballet dance almost moving on water to this adagio).

Urn

Spartacus was a gladiator who led a rebellion against the Roman republic. The urn would be used in Roman times to store wheat oils etc, No doubt Spartacus had to push these around, he was known for his strength. Overturned it symbolises the overthrow by Spartacus of his masters. As this music was the theme tune for the Onedin Line the boats symbolise the shipyard.

Rachael

mini-cruise

I listened to the music and it reminded me of ships, not sure why - perhaps a TV programme??? So I had grand ideas about going to Boston to take photo of the Constitution but didn't - so here is the second best thing? Josie and I canoeing in Maine and crashing for the 100th time.
