The theme for this month is: 'Urban Decor'

The shoe trees in Heaton Park, (15 mins.walk from Newcastle City Centre...very Urban) are possibly the best example of genuinely spontaneous public art in the world. When people wear out a pair of shoes, (we have many of ours swinging from the branches) they tie the laces together and throw the shoes up into the branches of the trees in Heaton Park. Nobody can remember why. Many people come to look at the avenue of shoe trees, it has become quite a tourist attraction .
